Question:
Why do people still cook?

Seems so antiquated to me. Why would you ever buy food and cook it yourself, when you can order it and have it delivered to your door already prepared? I haven’t cooked a thing in years. Drive thus have been a thing for decades yet I can’t see why cooking wouldn’t become obsolete. So to all the cookers out there, why do you waste your time, energy, and money??

Gov't is killing you with high frequency electricity.Theotokos Virgin Mary gave prayers to "Schema-nun Antonia" on how to save aborted babies from hell. If you pray these prayers diligently, aborted babies are released from hell. On each painted nail there are 40 demons. Smoking is censer to the devil.Using foul language calls upon Pagan deities (aka demons); Holy Spirit departs on 7 meters. People who use drugs see demons who cleverly disguise themselves as ghosts and aliens.America will be last country to switch to Euro (antichrist's world currency). Contraceptives = abortion;using contraceptives for 1 year = 5 aborted kids.Miscarriages happen because of high heels; cesarean because of tight pants (second generation cesarean will be infertile).Unbaptized aborted/miscarried/unborn babies burn in hell for until Final Judgement; if pregnant, keep the kid and deliver at home because kids are chipped using IVs and vaccines in hospitals. Dentists and doctors chip patients secretly. Ultrasound leads to mark of the beast; don't do ultrasound, please. Abortion leads to breast cancer; a demon is released from hell for each aborted kid. Dogs can become possessed; don't keep dogs inside your home [Pelageya of Ryazan]. Walmart has technology to administer mark of the beast to those who have cat bacteria in their stomachs; stay away from cats [Afanasiy Sidyachiy]. Next false flag is the Statue of Liberty. Above earth there is ice (hemisphere); when rockets go up they bring ice down from upper sky to lower sky; ice stuck in lower sky will fall on us during Apocalypse. Earth is flat; earth stands on 3 pillars (the Most Holy Trinity); pillars stand on water at zero Kelvin; underneath this ice there is a bubble; and then the abyss. Zodiac is planetary prison of demons; don't believe in horoscopes or you'll exhibit the traits of the trapped demons. Most thoughts and dreams are from demons; demons never do good. Sleep fully clothed; pray the Jesus prayer. Pray to your guardian angel to have normal sleep. Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov was the last prophet before Apostle John (who wrote the Book of Revelation), Enoch, Elijah, resurrected Seraphim of Sarov, and resurrected Sergius of Radonezh will preach against the antichrist. Humans were created about 7525 years ago. Birds participate in time creation. It's a sin to kill birds. Dinosaurs live under our level; they will get out through sinkholes and lakes; to kill them, go for their nerves. Save the birds; but kill the dinosaurs. First dinosaur will come out of Volga River in Russia. Scientists don't see dinosaurs under our level because of radiation. Sinkholes happen because people dig for resources underground and because earth is heating up. Demons grow human skin (from a sample taken during abduction) and put it on so as to look like us. Demons will invite people to be healed inside their UFOs; those who go will be like zombies after. Gov't provides demons with diamonds and allows demons to abduct people. If you're being abducted, slowly pray the Jesus prayer. Don't panic. Demons use diamonds and souls to power their UFO craft. The bigger the diamond, the more it lasts. Demons have 4 UFO bases: 1)moon 2)inside fake mountain Kailash in Tibet 3)in lake Baikal in Russia 4)in Atlantis which is underneath the Mariana Trench in Pacific Ocean. There are no aliens. Nobody lives on other planets. Airplanes that go down are hit by demons because they need the airspace to fight Jesus. Antichrist is pale with red eyes. He's possessed by Satan since he's 12 years old [Lavrentiy Chernigovskiy]. He flies super fast; deceived people will say: "Christ is here; Christ is there" when he's flying from one city to the next very fast. He wears gloves to hide long nails. He's surrounded by demons who appear as angels of light. Antichrist will trick people that he can do mountain moving and resurrection using holograms/hypnosis; fire from the sky is real because of pollution gases in the atmosphere. Antichrist will have food only for 6 months; then he will feed his 666ed people flour from mashed up turtles (Tavrion Batozskiy), but this won't be enough because 666ed people are 10 times as angry and 7 times as hungry as normal people even though 666ed people became shorter (3-4 feet tall = 80 - 120 cm) because nanochips do function of organs (organs diminish) [Nilus Myrrhgusher]. If you have a lot of nanochips in your forearm, then you will not be able to make proper Orthodox sign of the cross (last mercy for you will be to cut your forearm off). Nanochips are sprayed by the gov't using chemtrails; they're also in gov't food and medicine; so, eat food from your own garden. In case garden is destroyed by ice from the sky, have chickens for eggs and goats for milk (Paisios). Lipstick contains cells of aborted fetuses, dog fat, and placenta; human flesh is in McDonalds, Pepsi, toothpaste, antiaging, anticancer, vaccines, perfume, etc.; that's why you should not be using anything that modern society has to offer. You're better off hiding within a 10-12 people group in order to escape Apocalypse. During Apocalypse, Chrtistians will eat dirt from under pussywillowtree as it's filled with tears of Theotokos Virgin Mary; this water will flee if a 666ed person tries to get it. Barcode is Druid black magic curse; QRcode is Mayan curse; when food is scanned, it becomes dead because laser is a substance from demons. Don't go into a UFO to be healed by demons. Green 666 is given by isotope rays on wrist or forehead when people stretch hands to receive small plastic grey card with no name on it (World Passport). It doesn't just have to be during this procedure (could be anything you sign up for or anywhere where there is a secret scanner); biometrics (fingerprints, eyes scan) or getting picture for passport are very dangerous because they could mark you secretly. Gabriel Urgebadze said that they do it on index finger when they scan your finger. Basically, try to avoid new documents at all cost. Police will microchip and isotope ray people on highways. Chipped people will be influenced by computers to take grey plastic card; but when they do, green mark by isotope rays is given on forehead/wrist. Food stores will isotope ray people too. Antichrist will also release prisoners to mark people. Reject 666 at all cost because it leads to permanent hell. If you're about to be marked, pray the Jesus prayer. Hide with Orthodox Christians to escape 666; leave all electronics behind so that antichrist's minions can't track you; burn documents because they're from Satan. The Most Holy Trinity gives you a name during baptism; devil gives an antiname during antibaptism (ex. Social Security Number). People who die with these Satanic documents go to concentration camp in hell to await Final Judgement; once the BEAST Computer is burned down, souls will be released for Final Judgement. That's why you should give back documents of your deceased relatives back to the gov't so that the gov't cancels these digital antichristian names given during antibaptism by the beast system; or just burn these documents because gov't could get upset and could send demons to mark you because of this outright act of defiance. Prophecy from half a millenium ago describes Final Judgement like this: Jesus was very upset with people who had little boards (plastic cards) in their hands because they wanted discount from the antichrist. Give to charity in the name of Archangel Michael; he rescues people from temporary hell twice a year [at midnight between September 18 and September 19 and similarly on November 20-21; pray at these times on your knees remembering the deceased by names (adding "and relatives by flesh up to Adam") so that they are rescued if they're in hell] (or brings them up a level, that is, to a level with less punishment; eventually, people are freed). Feed the pigeons; when pigeons bow down, people are saved from temporary hell. It's a big sin to remember the dead with wreaths (because demons put these wreaths on their necks if they're in hell with their hands tied up behind their back while hanging by their hands), meat, alcohol, sweets, and worldly music. Demons print icons of saints in newspapers so that you throw these newspapers in the trash blaspheming these saints. Crosses on soles of shoes and back of pants are blasphemy. Demons make carpets with crosses and put them on sidewalks so that people walk on crosses. Playing cards mock how Jesus suffered on the cross: clubs (cross on which Jesus was crucified), diamonds (four nails Jesus was crucified with), hearts (sponge with vinegar that Jesus was given to drink),spades (spear with which Jesus was pierced).Cremation is devil worship; only blasphemers such as Lenin should be burned; if Lenin is buried, earth will be polluted, and China will attack Russia because of this. After China attacks Russia, Ruski Orthodox Tsar (shown by resurrected Seraphim of Sarov) will come to power in Russia;this Tsar will slay traitors inside church and gov't; as a result, Russia will be the only country not under the antichrist.Ecumenism = 263 heresies;each heresy leads to hell. In 2006 in Moscow (that's why Moscow will sink),representatives from most religions signed a document where it says that all religions worship the same Supreme Being [aka the devil]. Priests who participate in ecumenism will have Pagans walking on their heads in hell. Arkhimandrite Antonin Kapustin left a prophecy that John the Baptist's living space will become a church and it will be blessed by forerunner of antichrist; Patriarch Kirill of Russia blessed this church. When priests pray for current gov't (instead of praying for future Tsar),Jesus gets up from His throne and turns His back to them. Forgive me.

I am not a cooker, I am a cook. The cooker is the thing I do cooking on.

Order it and someone still has to cook it for you. So THEY cook - why are you saying they don't?

It's also much cheaper because you don't have to pay someone to cook it (so why are you telling me I am wasting money?), and I can have exactly what I like in full knowledge I know exactly what is in it.

Safety and calorie control. The less hands your food goes through between the farmer and your stomach, the better and healthier. Also you control what you put in your food, you don’t have to whine about how much sodium or sugar goes into your body.

Most restaurants can’t explain what are the basic ingredients in your meal, I find that shocking.

Also the food made by stranger is made with less love and caring then the food a family member makes.

You will end up obese with cancer and dying early whilst spending a fortune to do it

If you can't cook it's pathetic and all the restaurants you order from find you pathetic too lol we watch and make fun of losers like you for sport.

I laugh whenever somebody spends $17 on spaghetti from our restarunt, not including the amount they pay to get it delivered lol. You can buy a pack of spaghetti and sauce at the store for $6 and make 3 meals out of it.

We think you're dumb and lazy

How is cooking obsolete when the people at the restaurants are cooking it for you? Good luck finding a date when your pathetic lifestyle is revealed lol!

1. Ordering food and eating at restaurants can be very expensive.

2. Many people like to cook as a "creative" outlet. I don't cook a lot, and when I do it's easy things liked baked chicken or salmon, but I do make great desserts. I don't feel like it's a waste of time or energy, and other people seem to enjoy eating what I make.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact most food ordered in ready made is full of fat, salt, sugar and other nasties that will make you fat and shorten your life. I assume you are from the USA and I read only recently doctors in the US are finding an alarming increase in the disease scurvy which is because too many people are living on MacDonald's, KFC, Pizzas, and all the other crap fast food companies the USA has. Scurvy is the disease sailors in the old sailing ship days used to get where they could not get fresh fruit and vegetables for extended periods. People are buying take out or delivered meals because they are too lazy to cook for themselves, and take out food is designed to taste good but not necessarily be good for you. Taste sells and few even consider the nutritional value of the food as generally it has little in the way of vitamins and minerals and fibre and is a recipe for bowel cancer.

Generally people who still cook meals at home will be healthier and live longer.

I like to cook and it can save money over eating out. I also am picky, so I like to have a hand in how I make something so I can get just how I want it. For others, it's a safety issue, such as if you have an allergy or are recovering from surgery or illness. In those cases you may be restricted to certain foods or methods of preparation. A lot of restaurants can accommodate these needs, but sometimes it's safer and easier to do it yourself.

A good question. I've also thought of it. I once wondered if home kitchens aren't starting to become obsolete.

Without reading any replies here, I'd say that it's mainly because it's cheaper (not always) and more healthy. (Again not always.)

Here in South Africa the people generally are not near as much into fast foods as Americans, and prefer cooking. Some American fast foods have tried to come here (e.g. Wendy's, Jack in the Box and Church's Chicken), & some initially had financial difficulties (like McDonald's).

Because, nothing is honorable than having to work for yourself or the beloved ones you support with your own hands and using your income to purchase your own food. Nothing is pleasurable than cooking and eating the food you purchased with the money you've worked for in the first place especially if your money is clean and not filthy money earned illegally.

Yet you eat with honor, health-wise options, personal tastes, and feeding yourself or others is lovely. Its sensible too than purchasing cooked meals made by others and God knows if its clean enough and healthy enough.

There isn't anything wrong with purchasing cooked meals, I just don't like to do so often or eat out often. I enjoy a home cooked meal than a stranger having to make a meal. And some people cannot have access to food made delivery to their homes or from restaurants.

Also, some people are very very lazy with their day to day lives to the point to not cook and not be productive enough at the very least to make the meal your family will eat or yourself!

Some people will not dignify themselves in this honorable manner that will benefit all as well.

Those kinds of people, I cannot stand them and do not respect them no matter even if they're purchasing the most quality, best of dinners close to home cooked meals and something to enjoy.

Some people have gotten to this level of laziness and its disgraceful to me in some way even if they're wealthy enough to always eat delivered meals and they'll never get to feel the real joy of eating something you've worked hard for, made it the way you wanted and now you get to eat it. They will never feel that personal enjoyment they're too absorbed with their wealthy lifestyle to take notice, appreciate the hearty things in life that's pleasurable on all levels when its personal.

Furthermore, if you have passion. The passion to cook for yourself or for someone else; I think it means you love to cook for them with enough love to satisfy their tongues, tastes and stomach with something you've made with your hands.

That's even better to have such love with cooking for someone else or yourself and what's even better than that, is to Thank God all that you do because it is He who provided you with it in the first place and gave you the capability to do so and fulfill these critical personal things.

I could eat out every meal, if I wanted to, but I don't want to limit myself to just what restaurants are within reasonable driving distance.

Furthermore, preparing my food myself let's me control ingredients and additives in a way that couldn't be otherwise guaranteed.

People cook because it saves money. People who don’t cook are just lazy. It’s not hard to cook. I’d rather prepare something then buy it because I know what will be in the food. I know I won’t be eating food that’s old asf, I won’t eat food that is not stored correctly, food that is prepared in a unsanitary kitchen because people are to lazy to clean it. There just there for a paycheck. They don’t care about the cleanliness.

Most food outlets use too much salt, sugar, fat, and just plain junk and you run the risk of contracting a virus or food poisoning. I enjoy cooking, making my own recipes to my liking, recipes that have been in the family for generations, also trying new recipes and sharing the results. It's okay once in a great while as a treat, but not on a regular basis. So much more comfortable at home, no people butts in my face as they walk and squeeze by my table and plate, music I don't like, babies crying, smells, just as a treat only.

There might be a time when cooking is necessary. We have to go back to our old ways. Quick & simple isn't always best. During natural disaster, food delivery won't be available.

I'm homeless on the streets, & I miss cooking so much!

It's cheaper. It's healthier. You have more choices when you prepare your own food. Drive thru's are great but shouldn't be your only option. If you deny yourself the experience of cooking, you are also denying yourself to grow as a person.

Mostly every restaurant or take-away has poor hygiene worse than if you cooked it yourself

EG

- If food drops on the floor, they might cook it without even washing it

- cooks not washing their hands

- hairs falling into the food

- bad meat? They simply wash it with bleach & cook it

- you know exactly what goes into your food

- no insects or worse can get into the food in hot weather (attracts insects, rats...)

If you want to spend your money on having food delivered, that is your choice.

Some people prefer to know what is in the food they eat. You have no idea what they put in the food you have delivered - more salt or sugar than is healthy, preservatives, fillers, chemicals.

Its less expensive and more convenient to cook your own food. But if you want to have yours delivered that's up to you.

I am curious why this is posted in Religion.

I love to cook and so does my husband. we take turns all the time in the kitchen and we help each other in the kitchen. when I put vegetables, and things in the pot with meat, I know what I am putting inside and I always wash my hands. when you ordered outside it is a lot of money and you never know when someone sneezing or coughs over the food and then sells it to me and my family

dafaqqqq.......main reason is cause cooking is WAYYYY Cheaper!!!!

For example, at the supermarket you can buy enough rice, bread, meat, etc at the supermarket to last you a week - eating that same food at a restaurant will cost you At Least DOUBLE...usually Much More, than bulk buying ingredients and cooking at home

never been too much a fan of cooking myself, but out of "wast of time, energy and money"

its definitely Not a waste of money - as prev mentioned eating that exact same food cooked for you "the easy way" costs you More Than Double the money...and thats the Minimum.....would love to eat out all the time otherwise, but could never afford it LOL

1) It's cheaper than having someone else cook it. Much cheaper. If you think it's cheaper to buy food already made then you know nothing about food.

2) I enjoy the process of making something good to eat

3) I can be sure of exactly what is in my food, an important issue for me since I can't eat some foods.

4) I can make as little or as much as I want. I don't have to depend on what someone else's idea of a serving is. I can season things to taste how I like them.

5) The only prepared food I can get delivered in my rural area is pizza.

6) I can eat exactly when I want, not when the delivery person gets around to me.

Because after raising it & butchering it or growing it. It has to be ate or sold. If ate cooked at home. 2 I like to go to the city market once a week. Wander threw. See how others produce & meats look as to what I raise myself. Then there are things cafes just don't have to cook with. Like local cheeses from small farms, fresh spices raised local. A chance to stop & talk to people that live near you. Then there are the back ally markets to wander threw. Or some would call them the black market. Were you can find many things very cheap.

1. Ordering food, even when done correct, done well, and done "right", clean, and sanitary, can be expensive or cost more to drive up and get or even by app.

2. You do not know what is in your food, so it is cheaper to buy it at the grocery store and make that 110 calories pizza you are dreaming of eating verses trying to find something that cannot exist. In this case, pizza because of it's dough will always be at least 100 calories.

3. It can be a stress or creative outlet to those that need it. Even those misunderstood or even hated in their societies and communities and be a positive way to express their feelings or have a meal.

Your logic contradicts itself. If EVERYONE stopped cooking where the hell do you think you're gonna order food from? Being able to order requires that some people enjoy cooking food. In restaurants chefs are hired because they are VERY good cooks because they have a passion for being creative and cooking new things for others.

Some cook by necessity, I cook to give my family some home cooked meals, All my school cooking lessons and skills learned from my mum / gran wont go to waste!

I make at least 3 dinners a week & a couple of lunches for my partner and I during the week.

My son takes a packed lunch / breakfast to work, so he enjoys coming home to a home cooked meal.

When I'm 'in the mood', I'll do a batch of baking, 3 Days ago I made a cherry & pear pie, [strange combo but it turned out well], Its all gone now of course, At halloween I baked some gingerbread & some double choc muffins.

The fast food, take out, etc. will kill you. Full of fat, sugar & salt. Not to mention you are paying way too much for very mediocre food. I can cook a better steak than you will get from any place that delivers. It will be hot off the grill and just the way I like it, not overcooked, dry and cold. I can make a great salad in just a few minutes.

2018-11-14 03:06:58 UTC
Well, for one thing, doing one's own cooking is less expensive than ordering out. Also, a lot of people enjoy cooking. And another advantage is that if you are cooking your own meal, you are in control, not some restaurant...you know what quality meat is being used. You know, for example, that your chicken tenders have been browned in canola oil and then baked, as opposed (and yes, restaurants still use the stuff), totally deep fried in lard.

You know, to each their own. You don't like to cook...you don't like the time spent of prep and clean up, or whatever, and you can afford to eat out like that, go right ahead.

the healthiest way to prepare them. Did I mention that cooking is also a lot of fun?
?
2018-11-14 18:33:45 UTC
I can understand perfectly well why you think this, but there are multiple reasons why people still cook:-

1. someone has to cook the food, obviously unless it's something which doesn't need cooking, like cucumber, lettuce or tomatoes.

2. it's common for people to like cooking as a hobby and as a creative activity.

3. it's actually typically quite a bit more expensive to buy stuff which is already made in comparison to the kind you make yourself.

4. it can also potentially be much healthier, since you're in complete control of what's going into whatever you're making. While it's indeed perfectly possible for some ready made foods to be nutritious - such as ready made salads - it's very common for a lot of ready made foods to be loaded with loads of saturated fat, excess levels of salt and tonnes of sugar, all of which are bad for your health if consumed too much and too frequently. People who consume excess amounts of these foods typically can end up overweight or obese, along with developing health problems which are linked to being fat, like high blood pressure, arthritis in the knees and ankles, heart disease, infertility and cancer.

5. it's not necessarily always faster. Some foods don't take long to prepare and cook. If you get ready prepared stuff, you have to go to the shop to order it, or take the time to order it over the phone or via the internet, and then wait for it, which could potentially actually take longer.

Because when you eat out the cooks and servers don't care about your food. The older you get you notice this. It isn't a waste of money. It costs less, sometimes a lot less, to make it at home. It almost always tastes better. You can eat things you don't always find at restaurants. You control what goes into your meal and can make sure it is healthy. A lot of restaurant food is much higher in sugar, calories and fat than made at home food.
